9 Best Cash-Back Apps, Coupon Apps, and Extensions (1)

When you’re shopping, do you like to browse for any coupons available online first?

I love a good deal. Especially on something I was already planning on buying (instead of something that’s on sale and I think I need!).

That’s why I love a good cash-back and/or coupon opportunity. I like to hunt for the best tools to save money!

And here’s the best part: it barely takes any work nowadays! There’s no searching online for coupons (although that’s good too). These apps and browser extensions do a lot of the work for you.

Let’s check out some of the best ones out there!

Table of Contents

1. Ibotta

I have been using Ibotta the longest out of anything on this list. And I’m still loving it!

It’s an awesome app and browser extension that gives you cash back for your purchases, as long as Ibotta is affiliated with that company (and they’re affiliated with a lot of companies).

My favorite place to use Ibotta is when I’m going to the grocery store. After I’ve made my list of things I need to get, I look through Ibotta to see if anything I need is available for cash back.

Sometimes, if I don’t see something I need but can substitute one of the things on my list for something Ibotta is offering, I do that. For example: if I have one brand of peanut butter that I usually buy and need it again, but Ibotta has a different brand for $1 cash back, I switch it up that trip.

To date, I’ve made almost $100 just from things I was going to buy anyway!

2. Rakuten (formerly known as Ebates)

I have used Rakuten for quite a while now, and it’s been a lifesaver in saving money. And since installing it as a Chrome extension, it has saved me a lot of money!

Once you go to a site, it pops up in the corner of your browser with how you can save money with that purchase, if applicable.

For example: I’ve been price comparing on big-name websites, and the Rakuten extension pops up with smaller companies that have the same product for cheaper that I didn’t even think of!

Now that’s handy.

3. Honey

I use Honey anytime I am making an online purchase.

It can be anything from photo prints to moisturizers to computers.

Honey offers an extension to your browser. So anytime you are online shopping and about to check out, run the Honey extension. It’ll scour the internet for you to find any coupons that are out there.

I used to do that manually, so I am super grateful for the Honey extension.

4. RetailMeNot

RetailMeNot is just like the Honey extension. It looks out there for any coupons that could fit your needs and applies the best one.

I used to search the RetailMeNot website every time I wanted a coupon (it was one of my go-to’s!). I’m so happy they have a browser extension!

It takes no time at all to set up, and no time to click the extension and let it find some discounts for you. Totally worth it.

5. GasBuddy

GasBuddy is seriously great. We used to primarily use this app when traveling since you don’t really know the best places to get gas when you’re visiting new places.

The app will search the area to find the cheapest gas prices, so you don’t have to drive around looking. And I really like that the users report on the price, so you know you’re getting the most up-to-date content.

6. Checkout 51

Another good cash back app! This one has been around for a while and is still loved by a lot of people.

The way it works is you take a picture of your receipt after you’ve made your purchase. It goes through your purchases and confirms your cash back, just like that!

I like to use several cash back apps at once (Ibotta is another one) to get the maximum amount of money back.

7. GoodRx

If and when you need a prescription filled, it can be pricey. Especially if you don’t have insurance! Enter, GoodRx.

I’ve actually saved hundreds of dollars using GoodRx. And the cool part is… it’s completely free! There’s no membership, nothing scammy about it. You simply use the app to find the prescription you need and reap the benefits.

8. Shopkick

This app is a little different, but is actually pretty fun! Plus you can earn “kicks” (their point system) to get gift cards.

You can do something as simple as walking into the store to get kicks. Other ways are to scan products and/or your receipt if you purchase something.

And that’s the cool thing: you can earn kicks without even spending a penny!

So download the app and, before walking into any store, look through it to see if you can earn anything. Those kicks add up!

9. The Coupons App

The Coupons App is great for just that: a huge collection of coupons.

If you’re anything like me, I am not a fan of lugging coupons around. I just end up either burying countless paper coupons at the bottom of my purse, or I have to shuffle through things at the checkout counter. Either way, it’s not fun.

Having a large database full of coupons on my phone is such a huge help!

And, bonus: it tells you the cheapest gas around your area.

Those are some of the best tools to save money!

Do you have any of these rewards apps or extensions? How much have you saved using them? Do you have anything that’s not on this list that you like to use? What are some of the best tools to save money, in your opinion?

I’d love to hear from you in the comments!
