Beta test the Google app for Android (2024)

If you want to try experimental features of the Google app before they’re released, you can join the beta tester program. As a beta tester, you’ll become an important part of the app’s development.

Your participation and feedback will help us release a better version of the app.

What you need

  • An Android phone or tablet
  • A beta version of the Google app
    • You can download the beta version after you sign up as a beta tester.
      Important: You can have only one version of the Google app installed.

Sign up as a beta tester

Important: The Google app beta version can be unstable and have a few minor problems, known as bugs. Share feedback about any bugs you find.

  1. Go to the testing program opt-in page.
  2. If needed, sign in to your Google Account.
  3. Select Become a tester.
  4. To use the beta version, follow the onscreen instructions.

The switch to the beta version is like a typical update. You won’t lose any data or settings.

Stop the beta test

  1. Go to the testing program opt-out page.
  2. If needed, sign in to your Google Account.
  3. Select Leave the program.
  4. When a new version of the Google app is available, update the app. We release a new version about every 3 weeks.
