We are excited to share the news that we have upgraded our Visa Debit Cards to the latest Chip and Pin technology so that you can conduct your transactions with a greater sense of ease and safety. Existing cardholders can secure their new cards at the Investment Centre (IC) where you previously collected your cards.

Here are some FAQs to address any concerns.

The new UTC Visa Debit Card replaces your current Card and comes with these benefits:

  • Increased Security through Chip and Pin technology.
  • Contactless Payments: Tap To Pay for small purchases quickly and securely at available point-of-sale terminals.
  • The comfort of using your TT$ Visa Debit Card locally and US$ Visa Debit Card internationally to make online purchases.
  • Email notifications – Receive email notifications of your card transaction activity.

*From 4:00 pm on Friday 16th September your current/old TT$ and US$ will expire.

Your new UTC Visa Debit Card becomes active on 21st September 2022.

All customers are required to collect their new UTC Visa Debit Cards at the Investment Centre where they previously collected their cards. Dedicated Card Services Representatives are waiting for you at our Investment Centres.

Of course, if you wish to collect your card at an IC other than the one where you usually conduct business, call our Contact Centre 625-8648, Option 3, to make your request.

Your card package will contain the new Visa Debit Card attached to an Introductory Letter and your PIN. The PIN is the four-digit number you will utilize to conduct ATM and point-of-sale transactions.

No, you cannot change your PIN.

Yes, you can have your card mailed to you. Call our Contact Centre at 625-8648 (UNIT), Option 3, to make your request.

Yes, your card will be mailed to you via FedEx. If your mailing address has changed, you can contact us at visaservices@ttutc.com.

Anyone within the household can collect the cards. TTPOST will make contact before delivering the package so that customers can confirm collection details. If customers are contacted by TTPOST and request the card be delivered to another address, then the card MUST be collected by the cardholder.

Undelivered cards will be returned to the Electronic Distribution Channel department (EDC), where they will be stored until the customer is contacted and new collection arrangements are made. If EDC cannot reach cardholders via phone and/or email within three (3) monthand, the card will be disposed of.

Additional Information for Cardholders

On the face of your UTC Visa Debit card, there is information about your card expiration date next to the wording “VALID THRU”.

We will be accepting requests for new card applications from September 22nd, 2022.

UTC US$ VISA Debit Cardholders are asked to advise us of travel details prior to departure by calling 625-8648, Option 3 or email visaservices@ttutc.com. You can also visit our Investment Centres for further advice and assistance.

By using our new UTC VISA Debit Card, you accept and agree to the Terms and Conditions as specified within our Visa Debit Card Conditions of Use Agreement.

With this card, ALL transaction types are FREE of charge at UTC ATMs. Point-of-Sale transactions are FREE at merchant locations wherever the Visa symbol is displayed.

Annual card fees are TT$100 for the TT$ Visa Debit Card and US$20 for the US$ Visa Debit Card.

When you use your TT$ Visa Debit Card at a non-UTC ATM, a fee of TT$7.00 is incurred.

When you use your US$ Visa Debit Card, locally and internationally, a US$5 fee is deducted from your account.

If your Card is lost/stolen or misplaced, you can access emergency cash from your US$ Visa Debit Card account by calling toll-free: 1-800-396-9665 (US & Canada) or 1-303-967-1098 (all other countries). Using this method, you can acquire up to US$3,000 (or equivalent) per day for a fee of US$137.48 per request.

Chip and Pin cards have a small metallic chip on the front that holds your payment data. This metallic chip is designed to reduce fraud, and it does so by providing a unique code for each purchase you make.

The Tap To Pay function allows you to pay for small purchases quickly and securely at merchants in four (4) simple steps:

Step 1 – Look for the contactless symbol on the point-of-sale terminals

Step 2 – Tap your card within one inch of the symbol and follow the instructions

Step 3 – Terminal displays: Authorised and Approved Message

Step 4 – Proceed to checkout

  • You can Tap To Pay for small daily purchases (not exceeding TT$300 or US$50).
  • After conducting three (3) consecutive point-of-sale taps in one day, you will be prompted to input your Personal Identification Number (PIN) for the 4th transaction.
  • When making purchases exceeding TT$300 or US$50, you need to insert your Card into the point-of-sale device and enter your PIN to complete the payment.
  • The Tap To Pay only works for point-of-sale transactions. At ATMs,customers are required to enter a PIN.

In Trinidad and Tobago, TT$ Visa Debit cardholders can withdraw up to a maximum of TT$3,500.00 daily at an ATM (subject to the limits of the individual participating bank ATM rules. At point-of-sale terminals, customers can make purchases up to a maximum of TT$20,000 daily.

US$ Visa Debit cardholders can withdraw up to US$1,000.00 daily (or the USD equivalent based on currency conversion) and make point-of-sale purchases up to a maximum of US$3,000.00 daily.

Using this method, you can acquire up to US$3,000 (or equivalent) per day for a fee of US$137.48 per request.

The Card replacement fee is TT$100.00.
