I need the iOS 17.1 back on my iPhone. The new update 17.1.1 is draining my battery. I now have to charge 3 times a day. I do not like the new set up at all.

Troubleshooting Overheating iPhone withiOS 17:

Report this to Apple...

OvereatingiPhoneand drainingiPhonebatteries are a well-known issues of the iOS17 update series. Question is: "Just how many people have actually reported this to Apple?"

Do your Part:ProvideApplewith feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.Applemay not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come.Apple will know nothing of this, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here:Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select:"Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment:that this all began after installing an update. Include theURLof this thread
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

I really don’t like the 17.1.1 update changes to my contacts list.

How do I get rid of the huge circle and initials on my contacts?

Get it back to 17.1 from what?

"Back" implies you're running something higher, which would have to mean you're running a beta version of 17.2 (or similar).

If that's the case, see this article: How to uninstall iOS or iPadOS beta software - Apple Support

Getting Back to Post Update:

Did you back up your iPhone just after installing iOS17.1.1? If so, restore your iPhone from it. See if things go back to how they were working when you use installed the update.

Generally downgrading is not possible as Apple quits signing the previous iOS versions within days after a new release. That is not something I would recommend and you are usually better off addressing any issues you are having. With that said, MacWorld put out an article on downgrading and does explain a process that may work if the previous version is still signed. The article talks about going from iOS 17 back to iOS 16, which is no longer possible as iOS 16 is now not signed, but the process may work for a couple of days to revert to iOS 17.1. Feel free to check it out:

Did you download the update that was released today (iOS 17.1.1)? If so, unfortunately you won’t be able to go back to 17.1. What issues are you experiencing?

Apple does not support "going back" with iOS versions. Updates are a one way street and you can't go backwards.
