Welcome to day two of my Stampin’ Up! new product sneak peeks. Yesterday I brought you to an autumn-themed project using the Rustic Crate Stamp Set. Today I’ve decided to show you one of the new paper packs available for customers to buy from next Thursday. The O Holy Night 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper (DSP) is part of the O Holy Night Suite. This includes two stamp sets, both with coordinating dies (available as part of a bundle or separately), embellishments, ribbon, and two packs of coordinating paper.
PEACE OF THE SEASON
The O Holy Night DSP contains 12 double-side sheets (2 each of 12 designs). Two of the designs are full page ‘scenes’ which I know is often hard to cut into. So that was the challenge I set myself with this project. I decided to use the sheet with the buildings and started by cutting a vertical strip that was 3″ x 12″. This quarter sheet would be enough to decorate the card front, inside and envelope.
From my strip of DSP I cut a 5-1/2″ piece, measuring from the bottom (building) edge. For the mat layer I cut a 3-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Pebbled Path Card. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I mounted the DSP onto the card layer lining up the left edges.
Next I cut and scored some Crumb Cake Card to create my card base. After folding the card along the scored line I sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder. Then I added the layered DSP up against the crease using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
For my sentiment I turned to the Brightest Glow Stamp Set and a Night of Navy ink pad. I chose “May the Peace of the Season light your world & may your new year be the brightest”. After stamping it onto some Thick Basic White Card I cut it out using one of the Labels Aglow Dies. Then I added it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals (double stacked where it extended past the DSP layer).
Finally, to finish the front I added a column of three Pebbled Path embellishments from the 2023-2025 In Color Dots (one of each size).
O HOLY NIGHT DSP
Now going back to what was left of my DSP strip I cut a piece 2-1/4″ x 6″. Using liquid glue I attached this piece to the flap of a Basic White Medium Envelope. Then I simply trimmed off the excess paper with Paper Snips, using the edge of the flap as a guide.
Finally I trimmed the remainder of my DSP to 1/4″ x 5-1/4 and cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card. After fixing the DSP down the right-hand edge of the card, I glued the layer on the inside of my card base. With that my Christmas card was complete.
If you like this design you’ll be able to make four cards (with envelopes) from one sheet of the DSP. By cutting the paper vertically as I did, each card will have a slightly different background but with very little waste.
Whether or not you plan to get either of the stamp sets and/or dies that are part of the O Holy Night Suite, don’t overlook this paper. Many ‘Christmas’ paper packs get set aside after the season is over, but this one has a much broader appeal. Looking at the colours there’s backgrounds that would be perfect for autumn-themed designs. How about that light blue sheet for a baby project? Plus the starry designs would work well with the Reach For The Stars Stamp Set and Bundle in the Annual Catalogue. In fact any of the patterns would be great for gender-neutral cards at any time of year.
