Android has long enjoyed a lead over iOS in terms of customisability but the last few updates of the latter are quickly changing that. Released last month, iOS 17 adds some fresh and dynamic options that will be a real treat if you’re bored of a static wallpaper.

The update introduces kaleidoscopic wallpapers with beautiful patterns. These wallpapers change throughout the day according to an algorithm that analyzes the photo you choose and creates a stunning kaleidoscope pattern. The result is a unique and beautiful wallpaper that reflects your mood and style.

There are two types of kaleidoscope wallpapers in iOS 17: Jewels and Flowers. The Jewels wallpapers have a dark and light mode, which means they will adapt to the system theme of your iPhone. The Flowers wallpapers do not have this feature, but they offer a more colourful and vibrant palette.

How to use

To use the new kaleidoscope wallpapers, you need to update your iPhone to iOS 17 first. Then, you can either long-press on the lock screen wallpaper until you see the option to change it, or go to Settings > Wallpaper > Choose a New Wallpaper.

Once you’re in the wallpaper selection screen, scroll down until you find the Kaleidoscope category. You might also see it in the Featured section at the top. Tap on it and you’ll see 14 different kaleidoscope wallpapers to choose from: six Jewels and eight Flowers.

After you pick your favourite one, you can set it as a wallpaper pair for both the lock and home screens, or use a different image for each screen. However, you can’t use two different kaleidoscope wallpapers at the same time.

That’s all there is to it. Now you can enjoy the new kaleidoscope wallpapers on your iPhone and watch them change as the day goes by. They’re a great way to add some flair and personality to your device.
