ODU announced the inductees for the 2024 ODU Sports hall of fame. Two of them are athletes we've talked about a lot on this thread (in my memory) Trey Freeman and Jonathan Plisco. Martin Bradley (Athletic Trainer), Christy Longacre (Field Hockey) and Evan Newton (Men's Soccer) are the other 3 inductees this year. Congrats to all five for your hard work and the mark you left on the department and university! For the ODUSports Article, click HERE

I wondered if it was for graduation reasons but according to the guidelines: "GUIDELINES FOR SELECTION I would imagine no committee member would be opposed to selecting him as he has been the most popular athlete to come from here and is a great ambassador for the university as well as has given back a lot. He is a first ballot hall of famer and his 8 year wait period would have been 2023 For those interested in the guidelines, follow this link and click on the button for guidelines, and it'll take you to the word document.

I do think we should reserve jersey retirement for athletes who graduated from ODU, so hopefully Heinike will take that last class at some point.

I remember reading an article a few years ago where TH mentioned switching to a different degree program to graduate more quickly, but I haven’t heard any updates since then.

I am surprised to see a guy who was not with us his whole career get in the HoF though. Should a guy like Ali Jennings get in? Ali, not even close. Ronnie Cameron was inducted last year and is a non four year guy. Edit: corrected spelling. An indictment of my spelling abilities. But we've made headway on landing an interview with him and if we can nail it down, we will definitely ask him all about his progress there.
