It may not have ended as Michigan football would have wanted, but given the moribund 2-4 campaign in 2020, going from unranked to a College Football Playoff semifinalist was an incredible journey for the Wolverines.
It started with a blasting of Western Michigan, Washington, and Northern Illinois, before a second-half halt against Rutgers. Then, the first road win in 20 years in Madison, a dramatic come-from-behind victory at Nebraska, an easy win against Northwestern, before suffering a loss at Michigan State. A boring game against Indiana came before a thrilling one at Penn State. The Wolverines thumped Maryland on the road before shocking the world by beating Ohio State. The maize and blue held serve, winning the Big Ten by beating Iowa in Indianapolis before losing to Georgia in the Capital One Orange Bowl.
