The world could have its first dollar trillionaire by the next decade.

The world could soon see an individual with a trillion-dollar net worth, as revealed by a report published by Oxfam Group.

The data from the report reveals that the fortunes of the world's five wealthiest individuals have doubled, reaching unprecedented levels, and if current trends persist, we could witness the emergence of the world's first dollar trillionaire within the next decade.

This trend is fuelled by the dominance of mega-corporations, where seven out of ten of the world's largest corporations boast either a billionaire CEO or a billionaire as their principal shareholder.

Warren Buffet, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos demonstrate this trend, with the majority of their wealth tied up in the stock of the companies they lead.

Such concentrated control extends to families, such as the Waltons, who own around 50 per cent of Walmart, and billionaire Robert Kuok, whose family commands a 51 per cent stake in the PPB Group.

In the latest rankings of global billionaires, Elon Musk secures the top spot with a total net worth of $206 billion, despite a recent decrease of $5.96 billion.

Jeff Bezos follows closely behind in the second position, with a net worth of $179 billion. Bezos experienced a slight dip of $553 million, yet shows a year-to-date increase of $2.55 billion.

Bernard Arnault holds the third position with a net worth of $162 billion, marking a decrease of $2.03 billion, and a year-to-date change of -$17.5 billion.

Bill Gates ranks fourth with a net worth of $140 billion, observing a positive last change of $376 million but a year-to-date decrease of -$291 million.

Mark Zuckerberg completes the top five with a net worth of $135 billion, showing a last change of +$1.66 billion and a year-to-date increase of +$7.15 billion.

The data by Oxfam, sheds light on the alarming concentration of global wealth. Since 2020, global financial assets have become increasingly onside, with the richest 1 per cent now holding a staggering 43 per cent of all such assets.

In regions like the Middle East, Asia, and Europe, the inequality is even more pronounced, with the wealthiest 1 per cent controlling nearly half of the financial wealth.

Further analysis delves into the ownership structures of the world's largest public corporations, revealing that 34 per cent of the top 50 have a billionaire either as CEO or principal shareholder. The combined market capitalisation of these companies stands at a staggering $13.3 trillion.

Amongst the top 10 corporations globally, seven are under the influence of a billionaire, giving them substantial control over decision-making processes.
