During the big event, Apple will unveil new operating systems for iPhones, Macs, smart watches, iPads, and Apple TVs, introducing the latest iOS 17, macOS 14, WatchOS 10, iPadOS 17, and tvOS 17, respectively. Additionally, Apple will also make several other announcements and showcase new products. Amongst all the exciting announcements, iPhone users are particularly eager for the release of the new iOS 17. However, it should be noted that not all iPhone models will get the latest iOS 17 update.

These iPhones will not get iOS 17 update

A report from MacRumors suggests that Apple will discontinue software support for several devices. According to the source, the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X will not receive the new iOS update. Additionally, the first-generation iPad Pro 9.7-inch, iPad Pro 12.9-inch, and the fifth-generation iPad may also miss out on the iPadOS 17 update. Apple introduced the above-mentioned devices between November 2015 and November 2017.

In a related announcement last year, Apple announced that it would discontinue major updates for certain devices. These include the iPhone 6a, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, original iPhone SE model, final iPod touch, second-generation iPad Air, and fourth-generation iPad mini.

Notably, Apple will not release new OS updates for older iPhones and iPads because the new iOS versions are not compatible with their old hardware. The old devices would require updated hardware and chips to run the latest iOS version. Therefore, Apple will not release the new update for these devices. In order to experience the latest features and even security updates, users are advised to update their devices and get the latest generation devices to get the best experience from Apple.

Additionally, the new version will include some modest changes to the lock screen and Control Centre and new privacy-focused features.
